Apex Profile

Apex was a very small rural town until all the new construction in Cary burst its seams and spilled over into Apex. Now one of the state’s fastest growing cities, Apex is finally getting its due, and making national top 10 lists and earning accolades, just like Cary before it.

One big difference between Cary and Apex is Apex’s use and upkeep of its wonderful little historic downtown area. Lined with stores, galleries and places to eat, strolling up and down this cute street is a great way to while away an afternoon. A personal favorite of mine is the Peak City Grill restaurant – worth a trip to Apex even if you don’t live there. Historic Apex and the independent shops and restaurants it houses gives the town a soul to revolve around.

But outside of that area, Apex is full of lovely new subdivisions (priced slightly less than Cary) and convenient upscale strip malls of box stores (notably Beaver Creek Crossing).  It is also a very easy commute to the business communities of Raleigh and RTP.

Apex is in Wake County, which means the schools are almost uniformly good -- See Schools for more information about school systems.
